It has been waited since long time that when Apple will launch iTunes in Russia. Now the time has approached and Apple is going to arrange an event for launching iTunes in Russia. This event will take place on December 4.
According to an email, small group of people has been invited to an iTunes event in Moscow on December 4 evening. This e-mail does not explain further and it only explains and informs that team iTunes will be holding a musical evening and this will be held on small scale and this function will be held at leading shopping centre of the city, GUM, which is located at Moscow’s Red Square.
This e-mail was sent by one of the Apple’s PR people namely Irina Efremova. The company has not disclosed further about this e-mail.
People in Russia were waiting since long time for this event. This event was originally planned during October of this year and then this plan further postponed to November. This was informed by the sources of the Russian news agency on November 20. This news report at that time also said that this launch had now been delayed to an indefinite time period.
If this news is true then this will be good addition for the peoples of Russia.
It is said about the Russian market that it has strong potential. According to some figures that were arranged by GP Bullhound in April, the Russia is considered as the Europe’s biggest internet market where there are about 53 million users. This market has per year growth of about 14 percent as compared to the growth in the Europe that shows per year increase f about 6 percent.
The digital music is very popular in the country and there are already two companies that are providing the access to the digital music and they include the Yandex and Opera.
The introduction of iTunes in Russia will also enable the Apple to promote its hardware business in this region. Currently the Android based devices are more popular in the country with iPhone which has just 2 percent market share. According to a research report, the smart phone penetration was just 15.4 percent during the first quarter of 2012 and by the end of 2014 this will increase up to 60 percent.
But Apple may face some difficulties in Russia as this country is considered as the most notorious in terms of music piracy.
