On October 29, the officials of the Facebook sent invitations for a media event to the press inviting them to join the team of Facebook in the introductory ceremony of the Facebook’s new service that is related to the gifts. This event was planned to be held on November 1st. But due to super hurricane Sandy, the management of the Facebook postponed this event and said that soon a new date for this event will be announced.
Now Facebook has sent re-invitations to the press for the same event. This time Facebook has set the date as November 15 for this event. It will be held at FAO Schwartz on Fifth Avenue.
It is not clear that what will be during this event. But according to some officials of the company the Facebook will have something to do with the retail partners of this new gift service initiative. There are more than 100 partners in Facebook’s Gifts Soft launch service.
According to some leading analysts of the market, the Facebook might announce some new items or services during this event, but this is not yet confirmed from company’s side.
Some details of this service have been received by the press media. With the help of this service, the users will be able to make donations to charity. The sender or receiver of the gifts will be able to decide which of 11 charities will benefit from the donations.
For this purpose, the Facebook has recently updates its iOS for the better working of this service.
Initially, this service will only be available in the U.S and only a small set of users will be able to use this service. The officials are claiming that soon this service will be available across the board.
